Our objectives are to work with our partners: The Arbor Day Foundation, The Lake Lanier Assoc., Upper Chattahoochee
Riverkeepers, Elachee Nature Center and Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful, to research, plan and implement projects, programs, and advocacy based on the interests of our members and the needs of our
community.
General Education, Awareness, and Practice
- Invite a speaker from the Master Gardener Program and collaborate with them on beautification projects
- Celebrate Arbor Day - give out tree seedlings to members and teach them how to plant a tree, educate them about tree choices
- Plan a walk through The Atlanta and/or Gainesville Botanical Garden
- Educate members about tree choices and “elect” a club tree for future plantings.
- Encourage members to join the National Arbor Day Foundation and to plant the trees given with membership
- Provide environmental education opportunities for children by donating to local programs
- Educate members about conserving energy by distributing Energy Star brochures
- Educate members about the importance of Backyard Conservation
- Educate members about the recycling loop by distributing information at meetings
- Educate members about water conservation
- Encourage recycling
